What Is the Branco Weiss Fellowship?

The Branco Weiss Fellowship – Society in Science is a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship based at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. It was started and funded by the Swiss entrepreneur Dr. Branco Weiss.

It's designed for creative, independent young researchers who want to pursue unconventional projects outside the mainstream of science. It's especially valued because:

• Fellows can do their research at any university or institute in the world

Who Can Apply?

• Researchers who have finished their PhD and haven't yet taken a faculty position
• Your PhD should be no more than 5 years old by 15 January 2027
• Current postdocs can apply
• Researchers from any country and any field

• Must be able to attend the annual symposium in the Zurich area
