Tomorrow's Leaders Undergraduate Scholarship 2027–28 for MENA Students
The Tomorrow's Leaders Program, sponsored by the US Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), offers undergraduate scholarships and leadership training at the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University for students from the MENA region. Apply by 18 November 2026.
What Is the Tomorrow's Leaders Program?
The Tomorrow's Leaders Program is sponsored by the US Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). It gives talented, motivated young people from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) the chance to earn an undergraduate degree at top American-style universities in Lebanon, combined with leadership training.
The programme has more than 1,900 alumni across the region.

Important Dates
- Application deadline: 18 November 2026
- Shortlisted finalists contacted: January 2027
- English test results due (finalists): 8 March 2027
- Pre-departure orientation and leadership workshop: August 2027
- Studies begin: academic year 2027–28
Who Can Apply?
- Citizens of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia or Yemen, and West Bank or Palestinian students living legally in a third country
- Current high school seniors or students who graduated in 2026
- Students from Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Palestinian students who graduated in 2025, are also eligible
- Strong academic results
- Motivated young people with leadership potential and a commitment to their communities
Not eligible: US citizens and US permanent residents.
What You Get

- A pre-departure orientation and leadership workshop
- Free English testing for shortlisted finalists
- An 8-week online English course for applicants who need extra support
- Membership of a network of more than 1,900 Tomorrow's Leaders alumni
How to Apply
- Check the Application Checklist on the programme website.
- Take the free online English assessment from Arizona State University. TOEFL or IELTS isn't needed to apply.
- Fill in the online application.
- Submit before 18 November 2026.
If you're shortlisted, you'll take the TOEFL or IELTS for free.
Simple Tips
- Show your leadership through school, community or volunteer activities.
- Explain how a degree from AUB or LAU will help you serve your country.
- Keep your grades strong, as finalists must pass their final school exams.
- Don't worry if you haven't taken TOEFL or IELTS yet, as the first test is free and online.
- Apply early so you aren't rushing near the deadline.
