RIPE Fellowship 2027: Fully Funded Trip to a RIPE Meeting for Internet Newcomers

If you work or study in networking, Internet infrastructure or Internet governance and want to become part of the global Internet community, the RIPE Fellowship is a great place to start. It gives newcomers a fully funded trip to a RIPE Meeting, along with personal coaching, training and a ready-made group of peers.

What Is the RIPE Fellowship?

RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens) is the open community that helps coordinate how the Internet runs across Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. Its twice-yearly RIPE Meetings bring together network engineers, policy-makers, researchers and Internet experts.

The RIPE Fellowship helps new voices from the region join this community. It's a learning journey that runs before, during and after a RIPE Meeting.

Choose one of seven learning tracks:

  1. DNS
  2. Internet Governance
  3. IP Management
  4. IPv6
  5. Measurements and Tools
  6. Routing
  7. Security

Important Dates

  • Applications for RIPE 92 (Edinburgh) and RIPE 93 (Sofia) are closed.
  • The next call will cover RIPE 94 and RIPE 95.
  • RIPE 94 is scheduled for Vilnius, Lithuania, from 24 May 2027.
  • The last call closed in early December, so the next one may follow a similar timeline. Keep an eye on the official page.

Who Can Apply?

  • Aged 18 or older
  • Living in the RIPE NCC service region (Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia)
  • Studying or working in a field connected to how the Internet is run, such as network operations, routing, IP addressing, DNS, measurements, Internet governance, or community work like Network Operator Groups (NOGs) and Internet Exchange Points (IXPs)
  • You must complete the free RIPE 101 course (parts 1 and 2) and pass the RIPE Fellowship Quiz

The fellowship is not meant for people working only in general IT, software development or the wider digital sector.

Returning fellows can apply again if at least one year has passed, they've stayed active in the RIPE community, and they propose a new learning path.

What You Get

  • Free ticket to the RIPE Meeting
  • Travel and accommodation covered
  • One-on-one coaching from an experienced RIPE community member
  • Public speaking and community participation training
  • A peer group, daily stand-ups and lunch with your coach on day one
  • A feedback session and continued learning afterwards

How the Fellowship Works

  • Before the meeting (about 3 months): Design a learning path with your coach, join three one-to-one online sessions and attend group training, including public speaking.
  • During the meeting (one week): Attend the full RIPE Meeting, join fellowship activities and take part in working group sessions.
  • After the meeting (about 1 month): Complete a feedback survey and share your next steps.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the RIPE 101 course (parts 1 and 2) online.
  2. Pass the RIPE Fellowship Quiz.
  3. You'll receive an email invitation with the application form link.
  4. Prepare an updated CV or LinkedIn profile, choose your meeting and pick your learning track.
  5. Submit the form before the deadline.
  6. The Selection Committee notifies candidates at least three months before the meeting.

Simple Tips

  • Do RIPE 101 now. You can't apply without it, and finishing early puts you ahead.
  • Pick a track that matches your actual work. Selection looks at how well your interests fit RIPE's work.
  • Show your connection to the Internet community, such as NOG involvement, network operations work or policy research.
  • Be specific about what you want to learn and how you'll use it afterwards.
  • Join RIPE mailing lists or working groups before applying to show real interest.
