Jean Monnet Fellowships 2027 in Italy

What are the Jean Monnet Fellowships?
The Jean Monnet Fellowships are one-year research fellowships at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. The Centre is part of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy.
The fellowship is open to postdoctoral researchers, tenure-track academics, and scholars who want to spend their sabbatical in Florence. Fellows join one of the Centre's research programmes or projects and become part of a lively international academic community. Up to 20 fellowships are offered each year.

Who can apply?
You must have completed your PhD more than five years before September 1, 2027. Postdocs, tenure-track academics, and scholars on sabbatical are all welcome. Researchers from any country can apply. Your research proposal should fit one of the Centre's main research themes, programmes, or projects.
If you finished your PhD less than five years ago, look at the EUI's Max Weber Programme instead.
What do you get?
Monthly grant of €2,850, not taxed by the Institute. It may be set lower (at least €2,100) if you have other grants or a salary. Family allowances: up to €310 a month for a partner living with you in Florence, and €210 a month for each dependent child. €650 for research expenses, such as attending conferences. Travel reimbursement of up to €1,200 for your trips to and from Florence. Visa support for non-EU fellows, plus up to €250 back for visa costs. The chance to work alongside leading researchers at one of Europe's top institutes.
What's expected of you?
Live in the Florence area for the whole year. Take an active part in the Centre's academic life and your research programme. Publish your fellowship research as an EUI Working Paper, in a journal, or with an academic publisher. Arrange your own medical insurance, or join the EUI's health insurance scheme.
