What is the NASA Hubble Fellowship Program?
The NASA Hubble Fellowship Program (NHFP) is a research fellowship for scientists who have just finished a PhD in space science. It gives you the chance to do your own research in astrophysics for up to three years.
The program is run by the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI). Fellows work at a university or research center in the United States. You choose the place where you want to work.

Who can apply?
- You need a PhD, or be about to finish one, in astronomy, physics, or a related subject.
- Your PhD should be recent. The exact date limit is written in the official Announcement of Opportunity, so read it before you start.
- People from any country can apply.
What do you get?
- A fellowship of up to three years. The first appointment is for one year. After that, you can renew two times, one year at a time.
- Time to do your own research at a US host institution of your choice. Each institution can host at most two new fellows each year.
- Each fellow gets the name Einstein, Hubble, or Sagan, depending on the research topic.
